March 16, 2021 – Being regularly physically active following a diagnosis of breast cancer reduces the disease’s mortality rate by 30% and the risk of recurrence by up to 24% . Because the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation (QBCF) prioritizes an active lifestyle, it is proud to launch its new “My Active Health” mobile application, a tool designed to encourage people with cancer to remain active during and after oncology treatments.
The one-of-a-kind “My Active Health” application features specialized monitoring adapted to the individual user’s condition, so that they can move at their own pace with exercises that will improve their physical condition. Downloadable free of charge, in English and French, the application offers:
- A personalized exercise program adapted to participants’ energy level and physical limitations (more than 100 exercises are available on the platform).
- A component for monitoring and optimizing medication intake.
- An intra-application social network.
- A directory of physical activity and breast cancer resources.
- And much more!
Developed jointly with MedHelper and financially supported by Ultramar, this mobile application represents a new tool for the “My Active Health” kinesiology-oncology program developed by the QBCF in 2018. Click here to learn all about the program.
About the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation
The Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation is the only philanthropic organization to ensure its investment in breast cancer research stays here in Quebec. In over 26 years, it has raised more than $56.7 million and invested it here in Quebec in cutting-edge research and in defending the best interests of breast cancer patients and their loved ones. These funds are also invested to support innovation, awareness and education efforts. Families, researchers, volunteers and donors all share the same hope: to increase the survival rate of people affected by breast cancer to a true cure.
